A new John wick series landed a higher budget than the first two films.
Totaling $ 60million (£ 43.7million), the show has also found its senior manager.
According to Hollywood journalist, Albert Hughes, who, along with his brother Allen, has co-directed acclaimed films Menace II Society and Dead presidents in the 90s before separating, signed to direct two of the three episodes of the spin-off.
Based on the John Wick action film series, which stars Keanu reeves, The continental is a prequel that takes place forty years before the films and follows a young man named Winston who will become the character played by Ian McShane in the Wick movies.
Each episode will be 90 minutes long and have a budget of $ 20million (£ 14.5million) each, for a total of $ 60million (£ 43.7million), larger than many films and even Wick’s first two films.
The creative forces behind the film series namely Reeves, director Chad Stahelski, writer Derek Kolstad and producer David Leitch are all involved in the series.
While The continental has yet to be sunk, John wick 4 is currently filming and welcoming new stars such as Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins and Army of the dead star Hiroyuki Sanada to his universe.
The fourth installment is due out on May 27, 2022. A fifth film has already been announced to follow.
The continental is set to air on Starz in the US, but the launch date has yet to be confirmed.
