Thanks to his artist and performance name Joy Anonymous, he has amassed 250,000 Spotify listeners per month, as well as a growing series of impromptu live performances at Southbank in London.
Shani Gonzales, MD, Warner Chappell Music UK and Head of International A&R, Warner Chappell Music, said: “Henry is an extremely talented songwriter and producer and there is real global excitement in the company about his arrival. It was a very competitive deal and we’re delighted we were able to bring it to Warner Chappell.
“Someone with his level of skill and versatility is quite rare and the work done by Sam Ademosu and the Flight Club management team has been integral to his development, while Louis Curran of From Concentrate has been with Henry from the start and is a pivot part of his career. Together, we plan to put it together with the world’s greatest artists and writers.

Sam Lowe, Senior International A&R Manager at Warner Chappell Music UK, said: “Henry is just as comfortable writing a ballad as he is writing a hip-hop or house beat. Not only is he an incredibly active writer and producer who will create great hits for Chappell, but he’s also involved in a lot of grassroots development acts that will prove to be a great A&R source for us. I am very happy that we are working with Henry in the future.
Henry Counsell said: “After I started talking with Sam [Lowe] Over the summer of last year it became evident that he and the team believed in what I had been doing all these years and felt my vision as a writer and artist advancing. We immediately started working on such a diverse number of projects and just clicked. From meeting Shani and learning how her arrival as MD would open so many doors outside the UK, I knew Warner Chappell was my home!
Counsell is based in London but originally from Adelaide, Australia. His genre-mixing style comes from his eclectic mix of influences, which include Fela Kuti and Burial, The Streets, Sade and Paul Simon.
Counsell explored the Latin and Spanish markets and developed this aspect of his production with Major Lazer’s Switch. He is a longtime friend and frequent collaborator with Fred Again of Atlantic Records.
