Who will walk out of AT&T Stadium on April 16 as the WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight champion? That’s the question that Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas will insistently seek to answer when they face off in the ring.

Spence made his professional debut in 2012. In 2017, he defeated Kell Brook for the IBF welterweight title and defended it five times. In a memorable fight, Spence defeated Shawn Porter in September 2019 to win the WBC title.

‘The Truth’ has only fought once since then, beating Danny Garcia in December 2020. Spence was involved in a horrific solo car crash where his Ferrari flipped multiple times, throwing him out of the car. This landed him in the intensive care unit. He ended up returning to action to face Garcia. After the Garcia fight, Spence was supposed to fight Manny Pacquiao but suffered a retinal tear.

Ugas made his professional debut in 2010. He lost to Porter in 2019 for the WBC welterweight title but bounced back with three straight wins. The WBA (Regular) champion after defeating Abel Ramos, Ugas took on Pacquiao, taking Spence’s place, to retain the WBA (now Super) welterweight title.
